The Meg Life has teamed up with fitness babe, Victoria Hegedus of Body Artist Fitness, to give you the low down on an achievable healthy lifestyle. We dragged Vic out of the studio to sit down and tell us some tips and tricks that you can easily incorporate into your daily routine. Spoiler Alert! 1. Flavoured Yogurt
This usually means that your yogurt is filled with fruit concentrate, artificial colouring and other artificial ingredients. Aim for plain yogurt, you can add your favourite honey, mixed nuts and fruits for flavour!
2. Refined Sugar
Commonly known as "table sugar" or "granulated sugar". Refined sugars cause a rapid rise in blood sugar, increased risk of diabetes, and many more negative factors affecting the body. Stick to natural sugars for foods that require sweetening. Other substitutes you can implement into cooking or even just to enjoy snacking on when an urge kicks in are: dates, 100% pure maple syrup and honey.
3. Diet Foods "Low Fat"
Lower fat isn't necessarily better and can put your health at risk in many ways including poor vitamin absorption, increased risk of cancer, heart disease and overeating. Stick to whole fat foods and nourish your body with healthy fats which are essential for the body.
4. White Flour
White flour is associated with many negative health issues including food cravings, metabolic slowdown and inflammation. Let's not forget that the process of refining this grain is BLEACHING it before it can be ready for consumption...yuk. Switch to 100% whole wheat flour, raw buckwheat flour, or unbleached all-purpose flour.
5. Fruit Drinks
To name a few; orange juice, apple juice, alcoholic beverages...these drinks are loaded with sugar, preservatives and wasted calories! Opt for making your own juices and drinks for a night out, they'll be 100% natural and will feel like a treat to enjoy from time to time.

Recipe:
5 oz San Pellegrino
3 oz Gin / Vodka
1 tsp Lime Juice
Shake with 5-6 ice cubes, pour and garnish with rosemary or mint!
